| | | | Light for modern diagnostic
Microlux helps in the diagnosis of caries and calculus and allows root canal openings as well as tooth and crown fractures to become visible.
Microlux creates a focussed cold light. This light is produced using high-performance light emitting diodes (LEDs) and is transmitted via a fibre optic light guide.
|
The significantly improved diagnostic capabilities resulting from this are accomplished without any additional X-ray imaging - a plus both for dentists and patients!
Caries |
| | Anterior Caries
In order to diagnose frontal tooth decay, the light guide is placed in the cervical area on the labial surface of the tooth and the view from the lingual perspective is assessed. Glass light guide Ø 2 or 3 mm
|
 | | | Posterior Caries
In order to diagnose caries in lateral and posterior teeth, the light guide is placed in the cervical area upon the tooth. Caries presents itself as a dark shadow on the occlusal surface. Glass light guide Ø 2 or 3 mm |
| | | Approximal Caries
For the diagnosis of approximal caries in the lateral and posterior teeth, the thin endo-fibers are used. Endo-Lite (1 mm) | Root Canal Orifice | | | The light guides are used for localising root canal openings. The Endo attachment is used to display and illuminate the canal courses.
Glass light guide Ø 2 or 3 mm
| Root Fracture | | | With suspected root fracture, an endo-fiber placed buccally or lingually in the sulcus ensures clarity.
Endo-lite (1 mm)
| Periodontial disease | | | Perio-fiber with length markings (3, 5 and 7 mm) for determining pocket depth and visualising subgingival calculus.
 Perio-Probe (Ø 0,75 mm)
| Prophylaxis | | | The fiber optic light guide reveals subgingival calculus as dark shadows.
Glass light guide Ø 2 or 3 mm | Oral Cancer Screening | | | For the demonstration of lesions or tissue alterations, the patient first rinses his mouth with a 1% acetic acid solution (Microlux DL rinsing solution). As a result of rinsing the refractive properties of the liquid change. Under the diffuse light of the special fibre optic Microlux / DL- light guide acetowhite or leukoplacia type alterations are more evident.
