Ribbond consists of high-strength polyethylene fibers that are comparable with those used e.g. for the manufacture of bulletproof vests. These fibers are so sturdy that they can not be cut using a normal pair of scissors, but must instead be cut with specially honed Ribbond scissors.

Because of the scissor’s specially ground cutting edge, the tape is cut smoothly and is not able to fray.
